Martha Cotes Obras



Born in Barranquilla, a city located on the north coast of Colombia. Since She was a child she had a strong inclination towards art, elaborating  pencil drawings; In 1979 wins an intercollege drawing contest in the city of Bogotá.

In 1980 at the Institut Villa Pierrefeu in Switzerland deepens her studies in history of arts. Sharing with different cultures, opened her a  universe of concerns and wanted too embrace the world and unify it through her paintings.

In 1984 she began studies in management of the different techniques in plastic arts at the Colombo-French Alliance of Cartagena with the master Jean Pierre Accault.

In 1988 she entered the School of fine arts from  Cartagena, continuing her studies with the teacher Benjamín Olier and also ventures into photography and art of stained glass. In this lapse of time participates in different individual and collective regional exhibitions.

In 2003 reinforces oil techniques in conceptualist trends with her teacher Camilo Calderon.

In 2005 she makes workshops with Joseph Hinton (teacher of contemporary art in Harvard University).

In 2010 participates in art worshops at the MOMA and the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
